NOTE:
*This comic series was born with its old name of She’s Josie, which was created by Dan DeCarlo, named for his wife (whom happens to be named Josie), and based on an old comic strip series, beginning with its debut, premiere issue 1 (February, 1963). The comic with its 1st name ran bimonthly, and continued until issue 16 (August, 1965). With issue 17 (October, 1965), the name of the comic series shortened to simply plain-old Josie; this adbridged 2nd name then continued for a few more years, till issue 44 (October, 1969). After being contacted by Hanna-Barbera to do a cartoon show with Josie, it was suggested that it centered around an all-girl rock group—which meant some changes were then made: The original friends who originally chummed around with Josie were bidden adieu, and new replacements came in. See the Josie Series History Summary for more details. As the result of those changes, with issue 45 (December, 1969) onwards through present, the name changed once more, to Josie & The Pussycats (the name that it’s remembered by for countless fans). They can be currently seen in several recent issues of Archie & Friends.
